Green business: the promise and the challenge

The new Ontario Green Energy Act, was proclaimed in August 2009. What does it mean to businesses and individuals? Can social purpose, economic sustainability and financial results co-exist? What are the opportunities and challenges for established business and new entrepreneurs?

The SLF has invited Douglas Prest (P.Eng, MBA), Founder & CEO of Solar G, a social purpose company based in Guelph, Ontario, that focuses on greenhouse gas reductions by developing energy solutions which both reduce gas emission levels for our children’s future and benefit us financially. Mr. Prest is a rare breed of engineer-visionary-entrepreneur who will make us live the hopes, frustrations and daily realities of the growing number of people who have decided to refuse the conventional trade-off of business vs. social mission and to do something about it … here and now.
